Let’s get AOC to run. She’ll be old enough next time 'round.
It’s clear the “catering to moderates” strategy has been a catastrophic failure. I say we change gears and actually put up a candidate that isn’t going to try and “play both sides.”
AOC hasn’t been afraid to criticize her party’s decisions, I think she could take the platform Bernie Sanders took and actually make some progress.
Problem is, the DNC would actually need to fucking cooperate instead of falling into their same old tried and failed ways, unlike they did with Bernie both times he ran. I don’t see that happening, and as always, third parties aren’t really an option.
Problem is that she’s a woman, and a statistically significant chunk of America is repulsed by idea of being ruled by a woman. (I’m not going to say a large portion, but big enough that it played a factor in this election)
I’m not in the US, so I won’t be voting for any presidential candidates, but I’ve been impressed with AOC whenever I’ve seen her in interviews.
You’re right about the infighting thing though, and it seems to be endemic to left leaning parties everywhere, whereas the right usually seem to be a much more cohesive team.
Happens in Canada too, only we actually have multiple parties. but the left sides tend to split the vote more whereas the right manages to have less splintering and usually will back one of the major conservative parties. It sucks honestly but I’m okay with it because at least I don’t feel my vote is wasted when I vote for an alternative.
Isn’t there something about the president having to be American born too? Keanu was born in Lebanon and is Canadian. I think he probably has dual citizenship with the states but it sounds complicated…
It’s probably a very unpopular opinion, but I feel like Jon Stewart is a bit overrated. He was at the height of his powers in the GWB era and he helped Kerry to a hefty loss, and then followed that up by running pointless and distracting political rallies that did nothing at all to prevent the 2010 shellacking by the tea party.
He helped provide cover for Trump this election cycle by laughing at him and at times even joking that he was gonna vote for Trump. I guarantee the daily show episodes that couch potato democrats like myself used to soothe themselves during this sleep walk into fascism will age like milk.
I couldn’t even bear to watch the election night coverage him and Colbert were doing and I’m sure that it got grim as hell (similar to coverage of 2016) as the jokes started to not match the bleak reality of an upcoming second Trump term.
His lasting political advocacy efforts for things (largely outside of the media) like the 9/11 first responders and Iraqi burn pit veterans are admirable though.
I mean, what else can we do?
Mutual aid. Start building up a network of people who help each other out.

That’s also true, as disgusting as it is.

Not a lot to argue about when the goal is to make as much money as possible by any means necessary

Convince Keanu Reeves to run for the next election. Seriously, he is the one.
He seems like a person that would go to great lengths to avoid politics, but he can’t be any worse than any of the existing options.

Also holy smokes he is 60???

I think Jon Stewart would make a great president. I also think he would probably be miserable and I would hate to do that to him.

Worked for reagan, Trump, zelensky. Every politician an actor. Fuck it at this point
Some still don’t understand the full extent of this
You’ll have more elections. It’s up to you to make them still mean something.
We’ll have to get Trudeau to step down first.
Keanu Reeves did a Netflix deal/Series with pseudoscientist and pseudoarchaeologist Graham Hancock
Milo Rossi has a series on YT going through just how bad Hancock is when it comes to pseudoarchaeology here
Most voters won’t give an F about that.
