The standard “ball” bullet used by the Russian military, at least, in the 5.45x39mm is designed to easily tumble once it is inside the target. It is more of an effect of the bullet’s construction and fine tuning of the rifling twist rate than the caliber itself. But it is still supposed to remain stable with the nose pointed forward when traveling to the target. Otherwise it becomes extremely inaccurate and loses its velocity very rapidly, which causes it to fall short.
It is keyholing. It happens when as you can see the bullet loses stability and tumbles in the air before hitting the paper sideways. It can be caused by many things. Insufficient rifling twist for the length of the bullet being used is one of them. The bullet hitting the ground or something else before hitting the target is another possibility.
Either way, it isn’t a desirable thing and indicates that something is wrong. The fact that the PLA members are proudly posting pictures of a bunch of keyholes randomly splattered all over a target like that suggests that they think this is normal and that therefore they don’t know what they’re doing.
The term “keyholing” is also sometimes erroneously used to refer to when two bullet holes are touching on paper.
As sound travels through a water layer where the speed through which it travels varies with depth, the sound will tend to refract towards where it is the slowest.
A layer where temperature decreases as depth increases will refract sound downwards. A layer that has the inverse temperature properties will do the opposite. A layer that is isothermal (where the temperature remains constant as depth changes), will still tend to refract sound upwards because the increase in pressure also increases velocity, although not as strongly as temperature does, which is why temperature differences can easily overcome this effect where the water is not isothermal.
If you have a layer that refracts sound downwards on top of a layer that refracts sound upwards, you just created a sound channel, which acts as a wave guide in which sound will remain trapped and travel far longer distances horizontally before dissipating.
Ultimately you can’t really put a number on the required temperature differences because there are many other factors to take into account like how steeply the speed of sound changes, how tall the layer(s) are, what is the frequency of the sound, or how much of it you want to remain “trapped” in the sound channel.
How well sound propagates through water is highly dependent on the water temperature variations over depth. There can be conditions in which sounds can be trapped between two different horizontal “layers” and travel far greater distances than 80km.

I uninstalled this crap the moment I saw it appear in Windows Explorer. I never knew it was that bad. It was the rule back when I was still using Windows. Whatever Windows Update installed without my consent, it got deleted immediately.
I occasionally use Autodesk Inventor and Photoshop still. I’ve got a Windows 10 LTSC virtual machine set up just for that. I don’t even let it connect to the internet. Any file I need to work on in there I just drag and drop them in and out of the VM. It’s like keeping a pet Windows that you can use whenever you need it but it’s kept confined in a vivarium so it cannot wander into your house and crap some bloatware on your carpet.
Another amusing analogy I have for it is that I’m keeping it locked in the Matrix. It thinks it’s enjoying a big juicy steak but really it’s locked up in a virtual world so it can be used by me without ever being able to seeing or affecting the outside world.
Do it. Earlier this year I was exactly at the point you are now, coming from using Microsoft since MS DOS days. I’m glad I did the switch and haven’t looked back since. It was far easier than I thought it would be. If you know how to uninstall Microsoft bloat you can easily learn to use Linux.
I was using Krita for almost everything anyway already. The only thing I still need Photoshop for is in the very rare times I need to add curved text to an image. And for that I have a Jack Sparrow edition of Photoshop that runs in a virtual machine that isn’t allowed to connect to the internet.
If you look back at the sci-fi movies that came out soon after lasers were invented, you could see that people had all sorts of crazy ideas of what a laser could be used to do and that a lot of them had absolutely no idea of what a laser really did. Ultimately, we’ve found out that most of those imagined uses were pure bullshit or extremely impractical, at least with the current state of the technology. It didn’t mean that the technology was useless. We ended up finding all sorts of useful purposes for it that they had never imagined, like disk players or barcode scanners. It only means that it took time for people to better understand what the real world applications of the new technology was and a lot of the initial assumptions were dead wrong.
AI is going through the same process. It will take time before the technology’s strengths and weaknesses are better understood by the masses so it can be better applied to more realistic uses. And for the commercialization of snake-oil applications for it remains confined to fringe markets.
They’d still get peppered with shrapnel though, including the people driving the golf cart
