Prescriptive grammar is useless and often racist. “Use to be” and “Used to be” are identical when spoken. There is no practical reason to know the difference or to care about rules regarding past participles and their relationship to the word “did” unless you are grading a paper or jerking off to your own superiority complex.

If language conveys meaning, it is sufficient. If you can’t understand the meaning of a sentence with this kind of error, you might be a poorly programmed AI.

There are two versions of the audio books. The newer ones by Penguin Audio are worlds better than the older ones.

Also- I’m on book 17 and most of them have been absolutely delightful. But there have been about four that I just didn’t get into. It’s not necessary to read them in order and skipping the ones you don’t enjoy doesn’t take away from the rest of the books. If there is anything you need to know from another book there is a little author’s aside that fills you in. I agree, no need to read something you aren’t enjoying.

I felt this way when I was 18 also. I voted green and Bush II won. I live in California, so the electoral college essentially means I still voted for Gore. It really doesn’t matter unless you live in a swing state.

I was a student at an Evangelical college on 9/11/01. You know all those rumors about Muslims dancing in the streets that day? Yeah, that was actually happening at Evangelical schools and churches across the US. Those people thought Jesus was coming back that day.
