I like that they think Jesus has a bunch of requirements to show up like they’re doing a summoning and that the result is the end of the world… and they WANT to cause that, because they think they’ll get to live forever because God chose them to be special so long as they try to make everyone live like them against their wills.

      Maaaaybe they’re a cult.

Unsurprisingly, Bellingcat has “confirmed” exactly none of this and whoever made the video has no connection to the BBC. The more interesting part is who’s been spreading this bit of low-rent fraud—and why.

The claim has spread like wildfire and been boosted by at least one MAGA Republican, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). Relatedly, Donald Trump, Jr. pushed the conspiracy theory that Hamas’ weapons were supplied by the Taliban, after being abandoned by the U.S. military when it withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021. (There is no evidence for either of these claims.)

Trust MTG and the orange kumquat’s sperm to jump on the shitpost bandwagon asap … cause they have nothing better to do with their useless lives.

Russia also has (or should I perhaps say had given recent events) quite cordial relations with Israel. For example, Russia bought Israeli drones and used them in Ukraine. Also still have visa free travel and there was even talk of a customs union IRC. Israel was also hesitant to sell weapons to Ukraine, because they didn’t want to annoy Russia.

Russia’s been playing both sides for years now. I think the problem is that they need Iran more than Israel right now, so Putin can’t even manage to openly condemn Hamas.

Of course, this whole thing helps distract the US from Ukraine and possibly diverts weapons/munitions. That’s good for Russia.

But it also damages relations with Israel, which IRC is also a large importer of Russian oil. That’s bad for Russia.

It possibly undermines the nascent treaty between Israel and Saudi Arabia. That’s good for Russia.

But China helped broker a deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and this threatens to undermine that deal and embarrass Xi. That’s bad for Russia.

But uncertainty and the scuttling of a deal between SA and the US, will raise oil prices. That’s good for Russia.

But if Iran feels that a war with Israel is increasingly likely, they’ll be forced to send less weaponry/drones to Russia. When this is done, and given Israel has clearly decided to stop pretending to give a fuck that’s likely to sooner rather than later, they will be annoyed by Russia’s stance and more likely to send more stuff to Ukraine. That’s bad for Russia.

          Etc. etc. etc.

TLDR clusterfuck. I wouldn’t be surprised that you’re right and that Russia helped Iran. They do seem to like shooting themselves in the foot and taking stupid gambles.

I’m not sure that Russia had a hand in this attack. Even if they didn’t, though, I’m sure they’re working overtime with their disinformation network and “friends” in the Republican party to spread the narrative that the US needs to immediately stop all support for Ukraine and send everything to help Israel.

The secret ingredient is that they love bombing brown people.

The average Palestinian is a brown person, so they want to airstrike the shit out of them.

The average Russians is a white person, so they don’t want to help Ukraine.

Hell, some of the GOP’s leading presidential candidates at this point are openly and seriously discussing bombing Mexico.

As a Jew, the full blown MAGA folks, the evangelicals, and especially the white supremacists don’t like us.

The MAGA folks see us as a sinister conspiracy behind everything. Soros and globalists are both code words meaning “Jews.” They know that saying “let’s kill all Jews” wouldn’t fly just yet, though, so they play nice and try to get our vote by saying “we support Israel” (even while they promote policies that would hurt Jews in America).

The evangelicals hate us because we won’t convert to Christianity. However, they think Jews running Israel is a precondition to Jesus coming back and throwing all Jews into hell so they’ll “support Israel.” Of course, the second precondition is Israel suffering a large attack. Peace in the Middle East would hurt those chances so evangelicals do things to disrupt peace talks like support settlers and far right politicians in Israel. At home, the evangelicals would pass a law saying “all Jews must convert to Christianity” if they thought they could get it through.

As for the white supremacists, they don’t see Jews as being white. The fact that many of us have white skin is seen as a trick of sorts. They really don’t like how they can’t tell if a Jew is walking down the street the same way they can tell that a black man walking down the street is black. They absolutely want to kill all of us. Some of them have tried. At best, they would ship us all off to Israel despite the fact that most American Jews’ don’t have a major connection to Israel.

When a conservative shares their “opinion”, it should be dismissed and disregarded without consideration. It is valueless and often harmful.

Not every conservative talking point is bad. The Moderates views on fiscal responsibility is wise. Now of course they are hypocrites and only say that when Democrats are in power, but ensuring tax payer money is spent efficiently and wisely is a good position to have.

Be good with money is not a political opinion. That’s just basic common sense. It’s a shitty Republican talking point when they say that. It was Reagan that blew up the national debt. Democrats before always kept a reasonable budget while paying down debt. The whole point is that the wealthy didn’t want to pay for social safety nets and made up an issue out of nowhere to lower taxes.

The way you’re phrasing this makes it seem like you think the left’s policies on fiscal responsibility are “spend taxpayer money inefficiently and unwisely”. That statement is an empty platitude unless “Moderates” and the right actually take some kind of action to back it up or even present a plan that reflects a position of fiscal responsibility.

The “moderate” republicans are only fiscal hawks with a democrat president. When they control everything, it’s tax cuts for the rich all the way down- and those Trump era 1%-er tax cuts are a) the largest expansion of us debt and b) one of the driving causes of inequality in the US.

Literally everything they do fucks over the vast majority of Americans- their constituency included- for the. Benefit of the oligarchs whose dicks they suck off.

They might have some general points that are decent, but their implementation of those points is horrid at best.

For example, fiscal responsibility. Good general concept. After all, spending $100 when you only have $10 isn’t sustainable. However, the right still tries to spend a huge amount on the military and then gives big tax breaks to the rich under the theory that the rich will eventually let some middle class/poor people have money. Trickle Down Theory has been disproven many times and yet the right keeps going back to it.

To give another one: We need to fix the situation at our southern border. Yes, I agree. Something needs to be done and… Oh, wait. They want to deploy buzzsaw blades, shoot immigrants on sight, and build a giant, expensive wall that won’t do anything but drain money.

You want to really address the issue at the southern border? Expand and reform the immigrant court system. Jon Oliver had a good piece about the problems there. If you fix the immigration courts, we could quickly sort through the incoming immigrants, help settle people who qualify for asylum and kick out anyone who shouldn’t be here. But that would result in more immigrants staying here (which we definitely could handle) and Republicans wouldn’t like that because “more brown people!”

You do know Israelis and Palestinians look the same, right. The only actual difference the two sides have is one follow Mohammed’s version of Christian / Abrahamic religion and the other follows the old Abrahamic religion. Basically the same difference between Christianity and Judaism. They have more in common than they have different, but each side has been groomed to hate the other. That is why religious wars are so fucking stupid. Your killing women and child over nothing. Your fighting because you have been trying to suppress the other.

They are the same people and the hardliners from both sides are to blame. Arrest them all and sign a peace treaty allowing for everyone to worship however they want, free from hate and violence.

They don’t have a similar need for Palestinians (or others of Arab descent) so the right is fine with killing all those brown people.

Yes, of the evangelical contingents, they can roughly be split into three groups: (1) those who support Israel because of their view of the end times and like Jews but want them to become Christian, (2) those who really don’t like jews but support Israel because of their view that the end times require a massive war in the middle east, and (3) those who wish they were Jews and pretend to be Jews while actually being proselytic cosplaying Christians that like to eat latkes.

To be fair nuclear war would probably spell the end of capitalism so there’s that silver lining. With enough nukes you can burn away the racism and superstitions of the old world, erase the borders confining us, and liberate mankind from oppressive hierarchies. Not very environmentally friendly though. Maybe there is a better way?
