Not in the US it’s not…
Yeah I have almost no apps on my Home Screen. Just one page of widgets, and 3 pinned to the bottom.
Otherwise if I want an app I just use spotlight. Quick swipe down and the first letter or 2 of any app and I’m in. I almost never touch the App Library.
This prob comes from using spotlight so much on Mac as well though.
I haven’t had one myself for a while, really anymore I just see it when watching vids on the flip phones or tablets it seems.
But android gave me the reason to switch (the messy apps) years ago, and apple hasn’t given me a reason to switch back yet.
It very well might be fine now, but until apple does something similar enough to push me to switch again, I won’t know haha.
It really just depends on if you prefer customization or reliability.
For example, I’m an apple boi because I like that every app in the store is made specifically for an iPhone (which is easy for devs to do since there’s little variation). It leads to better maintained and performing apps because devs can optimize for the device it’s running on.
On android, you have way more choices, which some people prefer. But for myself, I get really annoyed when I launch an app and it fills 95% of my screen, but not all of it, because my phone is slightly taller then the 2000 other variations out there. It’s much harder for a dev to optimize their app when there are so many variables to account for on android.
Neither phone (or company for that fact) is better. They serve different demographics of users is all.
Ooh. Bloodborne too me years due to this…. Better times back then lol 10/10 would suffer again.
Which is called “having sway” haha. They have a big audience. Doesn’t matter how you feel about said audience. They’re there.
For me there are two interesting bits that make the Vision Pro worth watching.
When Apple gets into a new market, others follow. Whether you like apple or not, you have to admit they have sway in the industry. Remember how much wireless earbuds blew up after AirPods came out? At the very least, a big competitor has entered the VR space, which will pressure others to do even better.
More on the apple fan side, it’s rare apple releases an entirely new line of products. And even more rare they take risks. This is risky, and therefore interesting!
Is… is she wielding an axe in the bottom left?
At least when I open up Mac OS, it doesn’t show me a pop up ad telling me how XBOX CONTROLLERS COME IN SO MANY COLORS NOW click here to buy.
I’ve gotten that pop up the last 3 times I’ve booted up my windows machine.
Windows is great for gaming. But it’s the only thing I turn that machine on for.
I too was playing by the rules with premium for years. It was great. Then they gave me an ad for paramount plus even though I was playing for no ads.
I switched to freetube and haven’t gone back since.
They had my money. But they got too greedy and pushed a paying customer to the dark side.
It’s not minimizing the difference. It’s talking about an entire different problem. You seem to be in the wrong conversation.
And don’t forget the ridiculously good sound design and animation to build it in. Happily burnt into the depths of my brain.
Simply amazing. There truly is always a X-Crete.
Tyty!
Wait what’s the tldr on the baby one? Somehow I missed that one 🤣
I paid for paid for premium for a while. Then it showed me an ad for paramount + anyways. So I said fuck you google and installed an ad blocker.
Point being I was willing and did pay for the premium service. But even “ad free with premium” still wasn’t ad free. It was “ad reduced”
I know the hitler quote is there and all, but I also can’t not laugh at “we will not be be intimidated by the groups” lol
Can’t proofread their own flyer for hitler quotes or grammar errors.
I see these articles all the time and they drive me insane. Yeah I could buy an air tag and modify it myself to remove the speaker and then use it for an illegal action. That’s not apples fault.
I can also go buy a coffee, modify it by taking the lid off, and use it to assault a stranger by burning their face off. Is that Starbucks fault?
This is on the individual deciding to commit a crime. Not on the tool used. We don’t sue the crowbar company when someone uses one to break into a home.
IMO, apple has money, so people are just trying to see what they can grab.
I didn’t wanna maintain an ad blocker, especially since I use youtube on a bunch of diff devices. Desktop/laptop/Ps4/Tv/Ipad/Phone like, everywhere. Premium just meant no ads on any of them with no fuss or maintenance.
Also the bonus of downloads/music/background play etc was very nice.
Honestly for someone like me who uses youtube as much as I do, it was 100% worth the money. I just ethically can’t bring myself to pay for it now that they straight up lied and took my money without even trying to be subtle about it.
You can also use Steam itself to run external launchers via proton! Might not be the best way, but it was super easy for a noob like me to figure out.
Let’s me play ffxiv (non steam) and bnet games quite easily!
